Varias universidades acogerán programas de formación para jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual En el próximo curso académico 2019-2020

Un total de 23 universidades españolas han sido seleccionadas para el desarrollo de programas universitarios de formación para el empleo de jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual. Se trata de la tercera edición de una iniciativa impulsada por Fundación ONCE.

La iniciativa está dirigida a todas las universidades españolas y centros adscritos. En concreto, las universidades seleccionadas han sido las siguientes:

  • Alcalá de Henares (Madrid)
  • Camilo José Cela (Madrid)
  • CEU San Pablo (Madrid)
  • Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid)
  • Politécnica (Madrid)
  • Almería.
  • Granada.
  • Jaén.
  • Málaga.
  • Huelva.
  • Pablo de Olavide (Sevilla)
  • Barcelona.
  • Gerona.
  • Burgos.
  • Salamanca.
  • Cantabria.
  • Castilla-La Mancha.
  • Extremadura.
  • A Coruña.
  • Santiago de Compostela.
  • Murcia.
  • Universidad Pública de Navarra.
  • Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona).
  • La Rioja.
  • Alicante.
  • Valencia.
  • Miguel Hernández, de Elche.
«El objetivo principal de este programa es implicar a las universidades, como agentes decisivos en la inclusión social, en la formación de jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual, cuyo acceso a la educación superior resulta aún insignificante. --

Solamente entre el 5 y 6% de las personas con discapacidad tienen estudios universitarios hoy en España
Actualmente no hay datos estadísticos de personas con discapacidad intelectual en la educación superior y su presencia se limita a casos aislados. A nivel global, las personas con discapacidad sólo están representadas en un 1,7% en los estudios universitarios de grado y el porcentaje es aún inferior cuando hablamos de estudiantes de máster, posgrados o doctorados.

Segunda edición
En la segunda edición de esta iniciativa participaron un total de 21 universidades, gracias a lo cual 328 jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual pudieron graduarse en los distintos títulos propios que pusieron en marcha las entidades académicas.

Fundación ONCE quiere lograr la inclusión social por medio de la formación y el empleo de las personas con discapacidad. Dentro de este colectivo, los jóvenes con discapacidad intelectual representan un grupo con especiales dificultades de inserción laboral, debido a su bajo nivel formativo, por lo que es precisa la realización de actuaciones concretas para invertir esta situación y mejorar su empleabilidad.

Diversas investigaciones ponen en evidencia que la formación de personas con discapacidad intelectual en el entorno universitario en competencias profesionales generales, contando con una titulación emitida por la universidad, incide positivamente en su inserción laboral en diferentes sectores empresariales y supone un crecimiento mutuo para el alumnado con y sin discapacidad.
